The Shape of Song is an online application written entirely in Java, with an applet to handle user interface and visualization and a servlet used to read MIDI files from the web. An online Java Synth with six main screens : Filter 1 & 2, TR30X, Autosynth, Drumsynth and Master. The automat is playing an array of sound (like a looping tape). The array is updated with data from the various modules whenever new data is available. To reflect changes on the controls, the sound is constantly recalculated. The effect of the computation, copying, and synchronization is that whenever a change is made it takes a little while before you actually hear the change. Doesn't seem to work in FireFox...

Leib is a flash tool for mixing images and sounds. You can use Leib online or download it . The offline mode enables you to personalize Leib with our own sounds or graphics. The whole interface is controlled by the keyboard : switch sounds on/off and create/manipulate graphics. The sonic and graphical elements seem to be independant from each other.

You create compositions with modifyme by controlling the behaviour/numbers of file-like icons. The behaviours are changed by opening/closing folder-like icons and moving the files. These then bounce around, stick together on storks, etc. The position of the files seems to control various elements of the sound, and a sequencer-like bar loops round the screen... perhaps it easier if you just go and have a try yourself!...

The Soundpark is built from interactive elements sporting a retro style : Supervox provides an interface to mix a back drop of loops and drones : a switcher box controls speed and turns elements on/off : and a grid provides a vertical and horizontal sequencer tool to map out sounds and connections with some compositional input from the Soundpark...
